Cell Phone Video Streaming site QIK Open For Public Use

Qik video streaming website which allows mobile users like iPhone, Nokia N95 and others to stream video directly, is now opening for public use. I am registered there for few months now, had no problems streaming and it’s very easy to use. Service has great idea but then could face legal problems when it comes to users streaming (Concerts, Private Auctions and similar). Qik became popular among many bloggers like Robert Scoble, he does not stop talking about it! Also Tech Crunch Michael Arrington is using it now and then.

Websites Blocking Europeans and Other Countries

Don’t you think that is a bit racist to block or ban Europeans and other continents of the world like Veoh, MTV and bunch more do? I totally agree with Mashable’s Topic “How To Make Your Users Hate You“. I really don’t get it!

Why would Live Crunch block visitors from let say Africa? or Pakistan ? What did they do to me? They click on advertising same as USA(Americans) or Russians do if its because of “advertising”. I understand that people like to focus on their website audience but for God Sake don’t fu***ing block others to view your website.

Imagine you are born in USA you lived in USA all your life, you get called to work in Germany for 4 years, and you are big fan of MTV. Now you are in Germany and guess what? You can’t see sh**!

I don’t care if it’s website from Europe blocking USA and Iraq or reverse, either way it’s WRONG at least in my opinion and millions of others!

PS: It’s easy to bypass those racist MOFO’s just by adding proxy :)

Tell me is that FAIR?

Sites Using Amazon S3 Experiencing Problem With Avatars

Since Amazon S3 server is down many websites are experiencing problem with Avatars. Many web developers are using Amazon S3 because it’s cheap, productive and they don’t use their hosting storage as well as bandwidth.

Today I asked on Plurk “Is Plurk using Amazon S3 Server too?” By asking that question plurkers reported sites that don’t have avatars due to Amazon S3:

GoGrid now provides access to its Cloud Infrastructure via API

This was sent via LC Submit News Link from Michael Sheehan (GoGrid)

GoGrid was first to market with a unique web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), Windows and Linux cloud servers, free f5 hardware load balancing, and free 24×7 support, among other breakthrough features. Today, GoGrid announces another first: the only Cloud Computing provider that offers all of this plus the availability of a public API, essentially giving users true “Control in the Cloud.”

GoGrid’s Application Programming Interface (API) allows GoGrid users to programmatically control their GoGrid environments. While the existing GUI enables users to easily and quickly create complex network infrastructures, the addition of the GoGrid API provides the ability to:
? Skin their own GoGrid portals
? Retrieve real-time billing and usage information
? Script and chain various GoGrid commands for automation
? Instantly query GoGrid environments to retrieve variables about all objects
? Hook GoGrid functions into other computing environments or management tools
The GoGrid API is for Developers, System Administrators, SMBs, Start-ups, Web 2.0 companies and Resellers, providing them the freedom to control the GoGrid Cloud Infrastructure via the clearly documented public API. The GoGrid API uses a REST-like Query interface where queries are sent via HTTP GET or POST requests to the API server. API keys are easily generated and managed within the GoGrid portal, can have role-based access controls (RBAC) applied to them and are unlimited. The current API output formats are JSON, XML and CSV.

All commands delivered via the API are immediately reflected within the GoGrid web interface. Users can, for example, build API scripts that “get” available unused IP addresses, “add” servers with the unassigned IPs, and “power” the servers up. Additional commands will be added to the API as they become available

Twitter testing a new design

A number of Twitter users have encountered a new Twitter design.

So what’s new:

  • Tabs are now to the right of the screen
  • You can see the number of direct messages you have
  • Time stamps and “from” stamp are in italics
  • Latest tweet has been pushed under the “message box
  • Reply and Favorite shortcuts now appear as you hover over a message
  • If someone sent a message via text, the txt link takes you to the Official Twitter Commands page
  • The previous update also does the same for Twhirl, Twitterrific, and Twittelator. Meaning it takes you to their respective homepages
  • The search box is moved

Also, the new design looks very similar to the sketch Twitter used in its post about the Summize acquisition. Judging from this, the integration with Summize might not be too far away.

Control over your Gmail contacts

One of the most annoying feature in Gmail is the auto contact adder. Gmail adds everyone who you email as your contact. This is just totally ridiculous.

So finally Google has realized that clearly everyone don’t want everyone who they email as a contact. So now there are two types of contacts. #1 – “My Contacts” These are your personal contacts. #2 – “Suggested Contacts” Everyone who you email will be added to this list. Also, if you email anybody more than five times, that person will be automatically added to your “My Contacts”.
