Today, Apple has announced that the Apps store for the iPod Touch/iPhone has overĀ  85,000 apps avaliable, which in total, have been downloaded by users over 2 billion times. The amount of downloads has continued to grow steadily, with half a billion downloads taking place last quarter.

As usual, Appleinsider.com does a pretty good job in number crunching. According to their figures, the apps store recorded 1 billion downloads on April the 23rd this year, obviously meaning that Apple’s Apps store is snowballing. It’s likely that the level of growth will continue over until the first quarter of next year, thanks to the cheaper, 3rd Generation iPod touch, as well as continuing Telecom awareness about the addictiveness of the iPhone.
