Google has released version 3.5 of their desktop photo organizer and viewer application, Picasa. The update adds facial recognition so when you add a name tag, it scans your entire photo library and applies that name to every match. If it’s unsure of a particular face, will will give you the option to apply the tag.

The facial recognition tagging feature is integrated with Google contacts. Picasa will auto-completes names from your Google contacts when you start typing. Also, you can geo-tag a photo by marking a photo on Google Maps. Other stuff that you can do or create are face collage, time-lapse movies and sync the tags with your Picasa Web albums.

Also, the Mac version is now out of beta.
