According to the Washington Post, the demand for hackers is booming, with hackers selling services such as ‘Crack your spouse’s email password’. Websites offering the service charge little to find out passwords, starting at around $20 per password. The actual price is relatively small, but the paper was unsure what method was used to obtain the passwords, and if it was within a short time-frame.

This industry recently came to light, after the recent court case of Elaine Cioni who was having an affair with a married man. After learning that her boyfriend was cheating on her, she paid a website $100, and got her boyfriend’s wife’s password, the password of another girlfriend and the boyfriend’s children.

Unfortunately, she ultimately gained the attention of the police, after she began using a call-spoofing service in order to harass all of the above people. Eventually, after being charged for harassment, she was jailed for 15 months.

What’s more disturbing, is that hackers claim that they have no problem accessing people’s email clients, and social networking accounts.

All of the hacking services offer proof that their hacking has been completed, through the usage of a screenshot, or using the victim’s email, to send the client a message. After this, the client can send payment, or opt out.
