Facebook’s Great Widget Leap Forward

With Facebook being the more ‘mature’ version of Myspace, it still is unusual that Facebook has shunned widgets, in favor of time wasting applications, and random quizzes. After all these years, Facebook appeared to wise up, and release a Fan Box widget for celebrity users, companies, etc. Apart from this widget, there was a few, obscure others. But now, Facebook has released a Widget Center, which allows users to access them with ease.

As of now, there are 5 widgets that Facebook supports; profile badge, a photo badge to share your Facebook photos elsewhere on the web, a Stream Box to share your stream, the aforementioned Fan Box, and a related Facebook Page badge. Of course, these widgets can be embedded to your blog, or other social networking sites.

The Live Stream feature is one of the most interesting, which allows your friends status updates to be shared with the world, and visitors to your site can either praise or insult their antics with greater ease. If you know anyone within the stream, you can ‘Like’ it, or comment on their post.
