Gone are the days where consumers are willing to flesh out a thousand dollars for a notebook anymore. Since the release of the eeepc, possibly one of the most popular notebooks, industry insiders noted that a cheaper, more portable computer would appeal to a broader market.
Primarily, Students, Small Children, High Powered Executives , Overseas Travellers, and Hackers have welcomed the world of Netbooks with open arms, thanks to it’s portabillity, wi-fi, and it’s price. According to Tech Crunch, it seems that over 20% of all Portable Computer shipments are now attributed to Netbooks. The sales rate of Netbooks is growing at over 40% per quarter, with the rate of growth doubling that of Notebooks, their larger cousins.
To increase the amount of interest in Netbooks, and to give Wireless Broadband providers a boost, some companies are now including a free Netbook after signing up with a provider. Currently, Verizon is offering it in the United States, and it’s highly likely that more mainstream providers
