Microsoft Security Essentials (Morro) News

Formerly codenamed ‘Morro’, Microsoft’s new free Anti-Virus and security tools will be named Microsoft Security Essentials. It replaces the old Windows Live OneCare (not free).

A public beta of Microsoft Security Essentials will be released this Tuesday. Microsoft has officially stated that Microsoft Security Essentials would be available by the end of 2009 at the latest.

Here is a quick run down of the main features of Microsoft Security Essentials:

•Real-time protection
•Dynamic Signature Service
•Rootkit protection.
•Lightweight design.
•CPU throttling.
•Idle-time scanning.

•Smart caching and active memory swapping.
