Symantec and McAfee Automatic Subscription Penalty

Symantec and McAfee paid penalty of $750.000 for renewing antivirus subscription automatically without telling the customer. When you instally Symantec or McAfee it works but by default you are also subscribed to auto renew every year, most people don’t even realize until it’s too late. Because Symantec and McAfee hide or don’t display visibly link to turn off auto-renewal. Kind of reminds me of GoDaddy and 1and1 domain renewal process…

So eitherway , both companies got slapped with $750.000 to pay state of New York and both companies promissed to display subscription process link more visible.
