How Accurate Will TweetMeme Be After the Twitter Replies Update?

Yesterday I wrote about #fixreplies and today we updated you on what’s going on. But now thinking of TweetMeme which is one of the popular Twitter links aggregator, how accurate are the ratings going to be?

TweetMeme depends on retweets

Example Nr1: ” RT @Tweetmeme Topic – Link ”

TweetMeme It’s not only aggregating the links from timeline but also from Retweets.

Which means if Twitter down @replies from non-followers , there is no way for Tweetmeme to know who retweeted what. Unless! they are picking up the retweets via SearchAPI.

I mean , not only Twitter users are inpacted by this, but also Twitter Applications too, which depend on Retweets.

Example No.2: http://retweetist.com/

How

is service like retweetist which are providing statistics “who has most retweets” or “what link is most retweeted etc” going to handle such change?

Maybe we are over reacting or going to much into this topic, but you know us…we like to write about everything.

Feel free to retweet this post via button above, test Tweetmeme if it works :)
