Yesterday I posted in our Espa?ol site about a rumor that Windows 7 would allow users the ability to uninstall (actually disable) Internet Explorer. The rumor was confirmed today in the Engineering Windows 7 blog, maintained by the project’s engineers.

Additionally to being able to disable IE, and all the options already offered in Vista, the following will also

be available to be easily disabled.

  • Windows Media Player
  • Windows Media Center
  • Windows DVD Maker
  • Internet Explorer 8
  • Windows Search
  • Handwriting Recognition (through the Tablet PC Components option)
  • Windows Gadget Platform
  • Fax and Scan
  • XPS Viewer and Services (including the Virtual Print Driver)
