Multi-Tasking on the iPhone?

An early rumor but there are hints that Apple may allow the iPhone to run apps in the background with the new 3.0 version. The current iPhone only allows you to open one app at a time and then quite it.
Reports also hint that there will be a new iPhone in June. Possibly an upgrade to the current generation (better camera please!) or maybe perhaps an iPhone Nano? Personally, I don’t think there will ever be an iPhone Nano. Why? It’s like why Apple won’t make a netbook.
