Given that many of us Powncers are social media junkies, many are already on Twitter, Plurk etc., yet we're looking for ways in which we can continue to have the long media-rich discussions that were unique to Pownce.

Some are dabbling with Vox, which has a Pownce group, many are also using Friend Feed and posting to the Pownce Exiles room. While we wait to see how Topicx turns out we're also able to have longer discussions on Pownce Refugees which we've created on Ning, many users are posting their profiles and having conversations on Post Pownce and we're able to export our friend's profiles via the Pownce Friend Saver.

I think I speak for many us in saying that we're really going to miss the superb user interface and feature set of Pownce, but it's also been good to see how the Pownce community has been rallying to find ways to continue to keep in touch.

From the developments I've seen so far, I'd actually recommend Topixz, a project by a Pownce user who is going to try to emulate what Pownce was and improve on the things it wasn't. It's functionality will probably be the closest thing to Pownce for those refugee users looking for a new home.

You may want to check out http://yonkly.com

It's the first niche-microblogging platform with twitter integration.

Best part. They're a bootstrapped, small team! Go underdogs!
