I had OperaMini for quit some time now on my T-mobile G1 phone actually since May. And yesterday I downloaded OperaMini 4.2 via Market Store. I did really expected to see more but to be honest I have not seen many changes since May.
Changing the Skins looks cool, but I don’t think it should be there as an option at all. As many of you know T-Mobile G1 has only 64mb of ram and all applications get installed on G1’s ram not on SD card. After having only 10 new apps I am already down to 32mb.
OperaMini rocks when it comes to speeds, webpages showed on EDGE instantly I would say 1-3sec of wait time! LiveCrunch loaded in 6 seconds, I must give them that I have not yet installed mini browser or play with one that was fast as OperaMini 4.2
While browsing I wanted to login to Gmail account via browser, guess what? Password is in clear text! And even more weird when typing password you can’t just hit enter, you must hit menu first and then hit Ok.
I have not figured yet if I can copy and paste, I did try to save image and that worked.
So after playing with 4.2 I uninstalled it and said that I am going to just wait. Over all OperaMini 4.2 is great I can see how it could beat any mobile “mini” browser in year or two.
Oh and not to forget! There is no back button, which they did indicate at the installation.
