Who would of thought that social networking websites are adding 2008 Election pages. Such page you can see by Twitter and also Plurk added Election page yesterday too! About month ago Facebook was one of the first that added election tab to your profiles too. And lets not forget MySpace!
So why do they promote this election that much?
One reason is to gain younger voters, which over the past few years learned that voting for president is very important. Most of them voted for Al Gore in 2004 and got disappointed by G.Bush winning the election. So social networks like Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and Plurk are trying to encourage them to vote again!
2nd reason is to gain traffic, if you ask founders of such social networks, their real answer is “traffic”.
By adding election pages makes:
- unregistered visitors register
- registered visitors visit more often
Which equals to more advertising profit, except Twitter and Plurk they don’t have adds yet they will receive more traffic.
