How safe is Yammer or Present.ly

TechCrunch50 winner Yammer or Present.ly which are microblogs just like Twitter but “only” for employees. Why would Employees use such service and how safe is Yammer or Present.ly ? I can understand to have such service internally but external data sharing is something I would never allow my company to go forward. If my info are stored on Database , that DB better be on my network and not somebody elses.
The concept of the two startups is awesome I love the idea, and I can see Yammer or Present.ly work for things like:
@LiveCrunch Let’s go to lunch
@Bob Can you help me with WebSphere?
Yammer get’s hacked, then what? Everybody knows what my employees are writing and everybody knows what software I am using.

Security is absolutely a concern with any kind of business communication. But the same arguments could be lodged against Basecamp or any other hosted SaaS provider. That’s also why we give a choice at Present.ly: you can buy the hosted version or you can work with us to get a behind-the-firewall installed license.
Every business’s needs are different; that’s why there are so many web apps out there in the first place!
@Michael Bleigh: Michael I totally agree with you, and as I said the business concept is awesome. It’s just that as business owner I don’t see potential of having my employees using such service externally and talk to each other , or there would be some rules in microblog , and that is not to talk about company things but more private, etc..
Btw awesome app just as you said, Security is concern (At least to me)
Why not just use any instant messaging service for FREE instead of having to worry about hosting and have employees go to a specific website?
My question is do all people on the app have to be on the same server – what about multiple locations? This goes along with security as well.
