Automattic acquires IntenseDebate

Automattic?(The company behind Wordpress)?has acquired?IntenseDebate.?IntenseDebate is a blog commenting plugin that works on almost every blogging platform. Automattic also acquired?Gravatar?in 2007 and?BuddyPress?in early 2008.

Apart from a commenting system, IntenseDebate also includes profiles for commenters and spam control. Some of IntenseDebate’s competitors are?JS-Kit,?SezWho, and?Disqus, all of which have a very similar feature set.?
