Ipod Touch 2.1 Download Links

Thanks to commentators I obtained the links for Ipod Touch 2.1 firmware upgrade. Ipod Touch 2.1 Upgrade contains some bug fixes and battery life yet I have not seen copy paste feature which I was expecting to see in this release.

UPDATE: Download 2.2

UPDATE: Since 2.1 links are broken or not working , go to This Link upgrade to 2.0 , after that just update your iPod Touch via iTunes to 2.1. Works for me and many others! See last coments.

To upgrade your ipod touch you have to have iTunes 7.7 +

Download the file > Open iTunes > Connect your Ipod Touch > Navigate to Ipod Touch and HOLD Shift Key and press Upgrade with your left mouse > Browse to the file you download and upgrade will start.

If you are Mac user HOLD Option button!

Please digg this story.

Thank you!

Where are the 2.1 links. i found the 2.0 ones but i see nothing here.

  22. XV said on September 18th, 2008 at 11:29 am

The second like gave me error 5. Im assuming its because its the iPhone firmware (the filename says iPhone). Downloading the first one now, and the filename says iPod, so im also assuming that the people who got error 5 have downloaded the second 1 and the ppl who got it working were patient enough to download the first one first lol

  23. live crunch said on September 18th, 2008 at 11:55 am

    @XV: I didn’t even realized until now. I removed the link and I apology’s

  24. XV said on September 18th, 2008 at 1:18 pm

Just to verify, downloaded the first one (now the only one :P ) and it works. Woot! Enjoy people!

  25. lupu said on September 18th, 2008 at 1:41 pm

i can’t find the correct link. please post it here. i got the same error(5) :( (

  26. live crunch said on September 18th, 2008 at 1:47 pm

@lupu: There are no links yet, Go to the link above and upgrade to 2.0 then just download the regular upgrade which is going to be free anyways.

And delete the upgrade you have, its probably iphone upgrade not ipod.

  27. lupu said on September 18th, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Thanks for the answer. I tried 3 or 4 versions of files from different sites and the same error. Right now i am at 61% downloading the files from your site. hope it works. i got an Itouch 32Gb with software 1.5 and is not jailbreaked.

    i’ll post again in an hour :) . 40kb/sec

  28. lupu said on September 18th, 2008 at 4:28 pm

everything worked smoothly. Thanks. just install 2.0 from the link above. There is no error. and then you can update to 2.1.

    Thanks again live crunch

  42. JoJo said on October 1st, 2008 at 11:25 pm

I think what you have to do is upgrade to 2.0 then from there upgrade to 2.1 after that just hope it works and make sure when updating to 2.1 to have iTunes 8. Here are some places to grab the FW:
    http://www.trejan.com/projects/ipod/
    http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

  43. mary said on October 3rd, 2008 at 8:18 am

  46. gusslozz said on October 9th, 2008 at 12:54 pm

Its works great, you have to upgrade to 2.0 firts, after you go with 2.1, well that’s what i did. Use itune 8 to upgrade to 2.1, just press and hold the shift bottom and them click restore with the left bottom of your mouse, after that get the file you downloaded before and that’s it. I downloaded the file in http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
    Remember choose ipod1_2.1
    Thanks….

  47. jonno12345 said on October 11th, 2008 at 1:21 pm

    Hello.

My Ipod is currently under 1.4.4. I have to upgrade to 2.0 first before 2.1? Could I do that while in recovery mode?

  49. jello said on October 13th, 2008 at 6:26 am

    Hi!

Do I have to upgrade to 2.0 before 2.1? I currently have 1.1.4. Also, my touch is currently stuck on recovery mode. I can’t seem to DFU it. Could I still upgrade?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, upgraded to 2.0 after downloading the link given above. But then got stuck.

When I check for update this is what i get :

“This version of the iPod software (2.0) is the current version”

Googled and found many people are facing the same problem but could not find any solution.

    Would appreciate any help.

I am using the latest itunes 8.01
