Beware of Twitter Virus

Kaspersky lab reported that some twitter profiles contain virus links. Such links will lead you to video which automatically brings up popup window stating that you need to download new version of adobe flash player.

Be careful of profiles like that, most likely such profiles don’t follow anyone and do not have much tweets.

In reality, this is a Trojan downloader that proceeds to download 10 banker Trojans onto the infected machine, all of which are disguised as MP3 files. We first detected the downloader proactively as Heur.Downloader and then added a signature to detect it also as Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Banload.sco.

Update 2:44PM CST: After writing about twitter virus profiles, looks like some other sites took it seriously and started to write about it too.

Twitter goes into friends email address books and sends out messages not sent out by friends themselves. Functionally Twitter acts like a worm.
