TweetDeck: The bloated client

TweetDeck is another Adobe AIR Twitter client. Unlike other clients, Tweetdeck allows you to group your contacts. For example, you can want to create a group just for your work/school friends. TweetDeck can also display your timeline in multiple columns. E.g. One for All Tweets and another for Replies. To do this all Tweets are saved to a local database. The far left column will always contain All Tweets. The GROUP, SEARCH and REPLIES buttons then allow the user to make up additional columns populated from the database. Once created these additional columns will automatically update allowing the user to keep track of a twitter threads far easier.

TweetDeck has some new interesting features that other clients don’t. However, it is not for everyone. If you are not a heavy Twitter user, then it maybe a little too bloated for you.

  1. You know what tweetdeck reminds me of? Destroy Flickr for Twitter. Destroy Twitter, heh. Same sort of concept with the multi-use columns. I liked it, the main thing I didn’t like is that it was a bit pokey.. and that was probably Twitter’s fault.

  2. Now if we can just get the twitter capacity issues sorted this might actually become something of interest. It does look a bit like twitter going the Plurk Horizontal way. :)
